meet Ana

Your story is worthy.

Hello, I'm Ana and I am a Portuguese documentary family photographer born in Lisbon.

Life’s my best school. Everyday I learn something new, a roller coaster of moments and emotions. The best part of it is that nothing as been totally perfect but, I learned that its exactly in all that imperfection that perfection colides. That’s what makes it such a unique journey, so worth living and that’s what creates my own story...

Your everyday life is exactly what makes you, YOU. Having your life documented and turned into photographs is what creates your memory archive worth revisiting and will pass your story onto the generations to come.  The simplest moments are the most honest, raw and meaningful ones. I like to capture simplicity through my lens, expect the unexpected and embrace it with the passion I have for photography.

“the session was at our home, our place with our routines…We felt completely relaxed and ana was able to capture all of “our” moments…we look at all those photos and we RECOGNISE all those details so unique of ourselves .”

Fact 01

I used to be an architect, then I decided to travel the world and become a flight attendant and that’s when my passion for photography started.

Art was always part of my life. Since I was a little girl one of my favourite activities was to draw or paint. Being an artist means having a free spirit, having a mind that never stops traveling in ideas and creativity.

I believe that’s why, in a certain way I loved so much my job as a flight attendant. Observing all those sunsets and sunrises from the plane always gave me this sense of freedom. Besides that, I love to travel and I learned so much with so many different cultures. I learned how to embrace diversity to a whole new level and for that I am truly grateful. Maybe that’s why I built a multicultural family myself.

Fact 02

The birth of my son was one of the biggest changes in me and my life.

If you are a mother yourself you will probably resonate with my words that “my son changed me and changed my life in so many ways”. I understood that being constantly up in the sky was too hard for this heart full of love. I had this “obsession” of photographing him because I didn’t want to forget any single detail, I wanted to remember and keep remembering.

This is why I valorize and love so much the work I do today, I look for the smallest details that you will want to remember and I want to give you the gift of including you in those photographs.

Fact 03

What made me go through all those night flights and jet lag was definitely a good cup of coffee.

I am definitely a coffee drinker, I risk to say coffee is my favourite drink, black americano with no sugar. Breakfast is my absolute favourite meal and coffee can’t be missed. I love when we have breakfast all together as a family and simple moments like this are worth to be celebrated.

Sometimes we tend to forget how those small moments are such an important part of our life simply because we are too busy so often. I can see the happiness of my son when we are all together.

These are the moments I want to capture for you. Those small gestures, small unique patterns that are so particular of your family and are so worth to be captured .

“Ana your photographs speak volumes, we love your creativity. Our children ask us when will you come back for another session…”

about you

You have an open mind, relaxed approach towards life and hate that everybody as the same smile at photographs.

You are uncomfortable posing in front of the camera.

You are always the one taking photos of your kids and you never appear in them.

You have the nostalgia that your children is growing too fast.

I won’t be there to judge but to capture in the most truthful way you, your family, your dynamic and interactions. Because those photographs are what you will hold on when memories seem to fade away.
