Regardless of the location and duration of your family photoshoot, I will create a relaxed atmosphere. Our time together will allow us to connect, and I will ensure that the resulting photographs truly reflect your unique story. As a documentary photographer, I seek to capture simplicity through the lens of my camera. I enjoy anticipating and embracing the unexpected with the passion I have for photography. My goal is for you to be yourself and feel at ease while going about your everyday life. I have no intention of posing or directing you; instead, I will be present, ready to capture those honest moments that cannot be replicated, as they are raw and genuine in their first occurrence.

Because every person is different and is looking for different options, I have several types of sessions available for you. In documentary family photography, time is an important factor and the longer our session will be the more we will connect and more complete your story will be.

A DAY IN THE LIFE | A DAY ON HOLIDAYS
These sessions are most popular and 100% DOCUMENTARY approach, there are no posed portraits or planned activities from my side. It can be a Full Day (8h) coverage and usually begin when your children wake up and finish when they are into bed on the full day.
I am there to spend the day with you, connect and photograph your real, raw everyday life which includes everything that comes along, hugs, snuggles, arguments, temper tantrums, problem solving, laughs, discipline, adventures and everything else that comes along. I can go with families on holidays, amusement parks, school and so on. Trust me that it will really be relaxed and comfortable for you and your children. Nothing will be imposed and there’s no time pressure.
You are the one to choose what type of day you would like to have me documenting as part of your family story.
The Beauty is in the unplanned situations, You will want to remember how all these moments make you feel today.

HALF A DAY IN THE LIFE
Similar with the Day in life sessions, a Half Day in the Life (4h) is still 100% Documentary and give you the possibility of having covered those spontaneous moments that are part of the day on your daily life that you always wish you could have photos of.
Even though I won’t have the time like in full day in the life, can take intensive photographs of the moments and build your story with what I will witness.
These sessions don’t incorporate any type of direction or posed portraits from my end but without you even realising I will be doing some documentary environmental portraits.

A MOMENT IN THE LIFE
A moment in the life sessions are a good option if you would like to have some family portraits and also some relaxed, deep and spontaneous photos of your family together.
You are the one to choose what type of activity you want me to photograph, I offer you a list but you might have something already in mind.
This sessions have the intention to document a moment of your life and that can also be an activity of your children, a dinner, bed time, anything really.
The location of the shoot can be at your home, outdoors, both, or anywhere you connect to and I will be allowed to photograph.
These sessions have a minimum of 2h duration because time matters in building connection and in making sure you get the true essence of your family dinamic.

A documentary family storyteller in Dubai
At Ana Backhaus Photography, my focus during every family photo shoot is to immortalize the unique ways of connection within families, the joy of welcoming a new life, and various significant real-life moments. It's all about celebrating life as it is or in special occasions through my lens, emphasizing “The Celebration of Love and Connection”.
I offer diverse family photography session options in Dubai to suit your preferences from a 2h session till a full “Day in The Life” photo reportage. A professional photographer like me will aim to stay unobtrusive, allowing you to go about your day naturally. I will blend into the background to capture genuine moments without disruption however I won’t be acting as a fly on the wall. I will have moments that I will be connecting with you all and getting to know you better. See me as a friend of the family that comes for the day with a great skill for taking photos.

You'll have the opportunity to relive the genuine moments of your day through the documentary storytelling slideshow and curated online gallery. You can afterwards order products through me like fine art prints and albums.

High season in Dubai for family sessions is from October until June because those are the months where the weather allows a comfortable atmosphere indoor and outdoor. However, due to the documentary nature of my sessions, you can always book all over the year, and the activities we do are what might have to be adapted.
